My family
I share my world with my partner Dries, our two amazing children Tanya (17) and Carel (14) and eight beautiful felines. We live on a small holding just outside Pretoria (Tshwane) and it is like having the best of both worlds. We are blessed with the peace and quiet, the abundance of trees, birds and even some wildlife just a stone’s throw away from the hustle, bustle and convenience of city life.
My background
I am fortunate to look back on a tapestry of exciting experiences! In the ’80s I went from selling all my belongings to travel the big wide world, to working on a kibbutz during the war, to riding through this beautiful country on a motorbike, to some failed attempts to dive for abalone, diamonds and gold on a Spanish ship!
But eventually the novelty of youth wore off, reality caught up with me and soon I found myself doing all the things I thought I should be doing to live up to the expectations of society. Most of my working life was spent as a ‘bean counter’ in the finance world where cash flows, financial statements, balance sheets and tally slips where the name of my game.
Then, a few years ago, I did something completely out of character and became a Personal Assistant in the field of developing housing policy in government. Although I was not ‘unhappy’ in what I was doing I could not shake off that nagging feeling that life was passing me by and that I could be so much more.
I now understand that my yearning for the exciting experiences of my earlier years – and my decision to make such a drastic change in my career – amounted to attempts to fill a void by searching for a more meaningful life.
My experience with Life Coaching
When the opportunity of Life Coaching came my way I knew instinctively that this was what I have been waiting for all my life. My heart was telling me that I wanted to make a difference in this world and Life Coaching presented me with that golden opportunity to do just that. But getting that energy in motion to achieve my goal of becoming a Life Coach was not that easy, for, I was caught up in the comfort zone of mediocrity and my attempt to move from my current reality brought much discomfort and fear. All I wanted to do was to go back to the way things were – back to the place where I felt comfortable and safe, albeit un-stimulated!
So, I put my money where my mouth is and I hired myself a Life Coach. Soon, I was focused and inspired and I had clear milestones in place of how and when I was going to get to where I wanted to be. I became aware of how limited I was by my own beliefs and the distractions and concepts of myself. But, before I knew it, I was on the fast track to achieving my goal and the rest as they say, is history.
Life Coaching changed my life to living a life with purpose and meaning. We become so accustomed and accepting of mediocrity that we become conditioned to think that living a life of our dreams is only reserved for the Richard Bransons of the world. I now wake up in the morning with a song in my heart and I am so inspired by the fact that I have yet another fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the life of another and that I have a shared interest in that person finding their purpose, living their dreams and reaching their full potential.
How I can help you
I am passionate about what I do and I can’t wait to share the wonder of it all with you. Let me take you away from “Shouldville” and let’s embark on a journey of learning, personal growth, increased self-awareness, greater fulfillment, higher performance and a more balanced life. The great thing about Life Coaching is that as you grow, I grow, and together on a grander scale, we help make the world a better place. The New Insights Life Coaching Programme can help you make some lasting changes to any of your life areas. Whether it be in the area of career, financial, health, emotional, relationships, personal development or spiritual growth, life coaching can change your life forever. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself to explore the possibilities of your endless potential and invest in a fulfilling future?
My coaching format I coach using the New Insights method whereby the coaching programme is spread over 13 sessions. Session one is free and we kick off by getting to know each other and assess where you would like to effect some changes in your life. My sessions range from 75 to 90 minutes each and it is up to you if you want to be coached weekly or fortnightly. I coach via SKYPE, telephone or in person if you live in and around Pretoria. It is my mission to coach you the best way I can and to help you effect real change in your life.
Please give the following some careful thought:
- What are your current frustrations?
- What would you like to change in your life?
- What information do you need to make a decision on coaching?
- What other people do you need to talk to before getting a coach?
- What is the value of you completing your goal?
- What would it take for you to be really happy right now in this conversation?
- What would you need to achieve in 3-6 months time to confirm that engaging me as your coach was a great decision?
Why don’t you make the decision today to invest in a life unlimited and take me up on my offer of a free life coaching session? What do you have to lose? “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive” – Gill Bailie
