My Background:
I began my career as a medical technologist specializing in the field of biochemistry. From there I moved into sales and was employed as a medical representative. I was blessed with two beautiful daughters in the mid-80’s, and worked part time for my husband’s company while they were growing up. My passion has always been to help those who are hurting.
I applied to SADAG (the SA Depression and Anxiety Group) to work voluntarily as a telephone counselor and did so for three years. I then did a counselling course and have been a part-time lay counselor working face-to-face with clients over the past two years. I then made the decision to study life coaching as it sounded like it was exactly what my clients needed to move forward, having begun their journey of recovery. I was delighted with the course content and experienced incredible personal growth as I journeyed through it. Now, as a New Insights certified life coach with advanced coach training, I can’t wait to pass on all that I have learnt to prospective clients like you!
I have been through some really dark and challenging times in my life during which I have sought the assistance of professionals. They helped me immeasurably and gave me great ideas as to how I could deal with certain situations. Nevertheless, somehow, though I could see the sense in what they were saying, I was simply incapable of doing as they had suggested. I was desperate for some tools that would help me bring about the change I so eagerly desired.
Now, I have discovered that Life coaching does just that! It provides one with scientifically tested tools and techniques that really work to bring about lasting change. Through the many practical tips and exercises given in this personal development programme, you will learn how to focus on the positive and attract good things into your life. After all, you get what you focus on!
My Coaching Philosophy:
I believe we can ‘be transformed by the renewing of our minds’.
The Life Coaching process I will take you through will enable you to take stock of your life and to set goals to bring you balance and give you direction. We will work on identifying and then eliminating any limiting beliefs you have, and discovering discrepancies in your values that may be keeping you from reaching your goals and realizing your dreams. We will set a value structure for your ultimate success, uncover your life purpose and create goals that will get you on track to living your life purpose. We will work on empowering you in all seven key areas of your life, namely financial, emotional, spiritual, social, family, physical, vocation/career. As we do this, your potential will be ignited, your life will acquire new meaning and you will be inspired to pursue your life purpose with passion.
Courage to Change – why I chose this name for my practice:
I have called my practice Courage to Change as I am a great believer in the 12 step recovery programme used by AA, Al-Anon, Gamblers Anonymous and many more organizations all over the world. They incorporate the Serenity Prayer – “ God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE TO CHANGE the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”. Change does indeed take courage. It is scary letting go of the old and venturing out into the new!
Co-dependency affects many of us. Life coaching can assist you to be free from this destructive behaviour as you learn how to care for yourself and let go of others. If you have an addictive personality, relationship difficulties or lingering depression, the 13 week personal development programme compiled by New Insights is ideal for you. You will gain confidence, improve your self–esteem and develop a healthy sense of self-worth! You will be shown how to let go of self-defeating behaviour and change your limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs that will assist you in achieving your goals. All it takes is a little courage and determination to become the person you want to be.
As a life coach I love what I do because I am doing what I love! Discover what it is that you are passionate about, what you love doing, what your true life’s purpose is, and you will experience a new found sense of freedom, peace, contentment and joy.
