You will embark on many journeys as you work towards turning the life you’re living into the life you want. The most critical one, however, is the one that leads you inwards. If you are not sure who you are, your ability to make the right decisions about your life will be thwarted again and again. Knowing who you are is an important step toward respecting and loving yourself.

We are constantly defined by our relationships with the people and events surrounding our lives. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a life coach,  an extramural taxi driver and a cook (although not a very keen one)!  If we can learn to define ourselves by our own standards, beliefs, values and intuitive guide, we will experience a stronger sense of self and all these roles will be able to  peacefully co-exist without splitting our souls apart.

Our society, which is a competitive one, is not geared towards building self-esteem and encouraging a sense of self-worth. We cannot rely on external factors, people and events to give us these things. They need to come from within.  If we do not value, respect and love ourselves, we run the risk of compromising our values in order to please others, saying yes when we want to say no, and constantly feeling stressed, resentful and overloaded by the demands and expectations of others.

Through my work as a life coach, I take great pleasure in working with women who are truly committed to making changes and improvements to the quality of their lives. Whether it’s creating an improved and/or more loving home environment, a more productive work environment, starting a small business, reducing clutter, cleaning up physical spaces, learning new skills, using the skills and gifts you already have, resolving toxic situations or people, reducing tolerations and stress, exercising, practicing better self-care and/or simply having a lot more fun!

Although there is work to be done, I keep my coaching sessions as light and enjoyable as possible. Amazing shifts and changes don’t have to take impossible and exhausting amounts of effort to achieve. Subtle changes in thinking, intention, focus and beliefs, can be all that is required to turn your life into the life that you want to live.

As my coaching is done around the framework of a specific goal or goals, we will work together so that you will do what is practically required to achieve your goal. At the same time I will support and encourage you to strengthen your personal foundation. We will work through the range of obstacles which inevitably obstruct progress, and celebrate your successes and breakthroughs along the way. Working towards a goal will involve plenty of practical action, but it is also important to let your soul breathe, enhancing your experience and enjoyment of the process and propelling your growth.

Growth and change are closely related to our willingness to keep asking and answering questions. Questions test our beliefs, stretch our intellects and help us to understand where we fit in the world. Asking questions leads to movement and one question leads on to another. This is what coaching is all about. I will ask a lot of questions and, as we peel away the layers, you may be surprised by some of your own answers!

I provide a safe, non-judgmental, non-critical environment where you can explore your options, clarify your personal values, learn to live in alignment with them and ultimately make better decisions for yourself.

A Bit about Me:

I obtained my BA degree in Industrial Psychology from Rhodes University in Grahamstown and studied through New Insights Africa to gain my certification as a life coach. I am a registered member of Comensa (Coaching and Mentors Association of South Africa)

I am a qualified tour guide for the Western Cape, although I have never worked in the tourism industry.

My work experience, prior to becoming a life coach, has included working as a teacher, an executive PA in financial services environments and an education consultant for an international recruitment agency. I have worked both in South Africa and in the United Kingdom.

As it is difficult to be unhappy and grateful at the same time, I try to express gratitude in my daily living. I try to keep my life as uncomplicated as possible. By peeling away the non essentials, life becomes easier, clearer. Ironically, simplicity is quite hard work, takes a certain amount of resolve and commitment and I don’t always get it right. I watch my health by exercising and eating well and am deeply grateful for good health and for having a body that supports me. I know from personal experience the effects and consequences of ill health.

I provide a service, through my work as a life coach, which is very much in alignment with my dreams. It is important to me to make a difference and to give back. In coaching, I have found something that I love doing that also benefits others. In my mind, it doesn’t get much better than that! I have enormous gratitude for having the opportunity to help others. It gives me a wonderful sense of purpose and connection with humanity.

I love to see people reconnecting with and reclaiming the parts of themselves that have been neglected or forgotten. It is exciting and inspiring and I feel truly privileged to be part of such an empowering process.

I share my personal experiences, as appropriate, but my focus always remains on you, your goals and aspirations.

I met my husband, Gavin, in London where I lived and worked for 4 years. During my time there, I enjoyed traveling to a variety of countries and experiencing life beyond our borders. After a whirlwind romance, we were married and lived for another 6 months in London, before deciding to return to South Africa permanently. It is our home and where most of our family live. Both Gavin and I come from large families. We have three boys, aged 11, 9 and 4 who make our hearts sing.

We live in Noordhoek, Cape Town. Whilst we love living close to the sea and mountains, we also enjoy the bushveld and wildlife and are slowly working our way through the many beautiful and diverse places that this country offers. I am happiest outdoors, in nature and wide open spaces and seek them out whenever I can. I am a keen photographer and enjoy capturing and recording my memories.

Causeways Life Coaching

I chose the name Causeways for my life coaching business because causeways represent how many people experience change. Causeways open up pathways and provide access to places which have been inaccessible. The solid ground beneath the water is not always clear and visible, making the journey seem more challenging. It can be a bit overwhelming, uncertain and you don’t always know what you’re going to find along the way and on the other side.

Whilst it may be tempting to just ‘stick with what you know” , the downside of this is that what you know is all you’re ever going to get. Instead of walking away from what you don’t know or standing too long in one place, consider the excitement and possibility of something or someone yet to be discovered!

With the direction, support and outside view of a life coach, it is a lot easier to reach your goals, change is accelerated and hurdles more easily overcome. I will work with you to ensure you keep your momentum, keep focused and help you to locate the simplicity in your life below the surface of the complexities of modern life.

  • What dream/goal do you have that is still sitting on the back burner?
  • What have you done recently to get yourself closer to your dream?
  • Have you begun?
  • What is holding you back or slowing you down?
  • What is the one regret you do not want to have in this lifetime?
  • Do you busy yourself with tasks so that you can avoid the hard work of your dreams?

Please give me a call, and let’s talk …..

Nicky turned me around from a desperate woman with no self esteem to someone with confidence and self-belief. I have experienced enormous challenges in both my home and professional life, enough to nearly destroy me. She extracted from me evidence of my self worth which I had disregarded as not good enough to even think about. Now I am enabled to make choices for myself and about others based on my own truth. And the truth is evidenced-based, on my life experiences! I now know who I am and my value in all things, what I deserve and what I don’t. It was a challenging process however and, if I can do it and come out at the other end a confident and far happier women, so can you. Once again, Thank you!
